MICROSOFT CEO Satya Nadella says Microsoft isn't about to sell Xbox

MICROSOFT CEO Satya Nadella
MICROSOFT CEO Satya Nadella has debunked rumours that the firm is looking to sell its Xbox division, affirming its "importance" to the company.
In a company-wide letter, which largely saw Nadella repeating himself and speaking in riddles, the Microsoft CEO reaffirmed the company's continued commitment to the Xbox, putting an end to rumours that the firm is looking to sell its gaming division.
Nadella said, "I want to share some thoughts on Xbox and its importance to Microsoft. The single biggest digital life category, measured in both time and money spent, in a mobile-first world is gaming.
"We are fortunate to have Xbox in our family to go after this opportunity with unique and bold innovation. Microsoft will continue to vigorously innovate and delight gamers with Xbox.
"Xbox is one of the most-revered consumer brands, with a growing online community and service, and a raving fan base. We also benefit from many technologies flowing from our gaming efforts into our productivity efforts - core graphics and NUI in Windows, speech recognition in Skype, camera technology in Kinect for Windows, Azure cloud enhancements for GPU simulation and many more.
"Bottom line, we will continue to innovate and grow our fan base with Xbox while also creating additive business value for Microsoft," Nadella concluded.
While this is good news for Xbox users, those interested in the company as a whole largely won't take much from the lengthy letter Nadella sent to Microsoft employees.
"At our core, Microsoft is the productivity and platform company for the mobile-first and cloud-first world. Nothing is off the table in how we think about shifting our culture to deliver on this core strategy. Organisations will change. Mergers and acquisitions will occur," Nadella said, vaguely, failing to say what the company will do to change, or what acquisitions it will make.
This paragraph below is perhaps our favourite, however.
Nadella said, "Job responsibilities will evolve. New partnerships will be formed. Tired traditions will be questioned. Our priorities will be adjusted. New skills will be built. New ideas will be heard. New hires will be made. Processes will be simplified."
